Job Introduction:
Media Operations is one of two main departments within the Technology & Media Operations Group. Media Operations is at the heart of teams delivering incredible content across all our platforms for all audiences.
Comprising around nine hundred people, it manages the craft and production operations for the BBC's news, radio, and sport services across London, Salford, and Birmingham - capturing, editing, and producing output 24x7 for TV, radio, and online.
The team are experts in their field with exceptional technical, operational and production creativity at their heart.
Working closely together with news, sport and content colleagues, they co-create all content reaching millions of people across the UK and the World daily.
We are seeking a
Finance Business Partner (FBP) to join the
Media Operations team, initially for a 22 month attachment role.
Main Responsibilities:
- Partner with the business to identify and lead complex financial analysis to better understand key business challenges and potential solutions.
- Design and develop the recovery model to ensure programme costs are correctly recharged to divisions.
- Work closely with our central finance team to manage budget, forecast, recovery and EFT models.
- Develop concise reporting for the business to help drive decisions
- Work with the business to develop and implement savings plans to meet divisional objectives
- Exert strong financial management of our resources.
- Provide key business insights, analysis and drive cost effectiveness
- Support our strategic projects, including investment appraisal, working with a wide range of stakeholders to implement transformational change
- A background in financial analysis, modelling and assessment that incorporates an ability to interpret and draw meaning from complex financial data (e.g. a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Strong communication skills both spoken and in writing.
- Previous experience in the broadcast industry and an understanding of the process of commissioning and producing content.
- Welldeveloped interpersonal skills with a proven ability to influence others to bring about beneficial change.
- The curiosity and drive to get to the heart of the business and understand the story told by financial and other quantitative data.
- Commercial acumen, including an ability to support and evaluate the financial viability of key decisions.
- A demonstrable passion for and knowledge of the BBC, including an understanding of the opportunities and challenges faced by our organisation.

Salary:
anticipated salary up to £80,000pa (plus London Weighting £5,164
if London based), depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.
