About The Role


Location:
TA8, Burnham-on-sea, North Somerset


Days & Hours:11 hours per week for after school 4pm - 7pm twice weekly (days to be negotiated) and a weekend shift 10am - 3pm on either Saturday or Sunday. during term time (39 weeks) During the school holidays (for 12 weeks) the hours will increase to 15 hours per week 5 hours twice weekly. during the week and 5 hours Saturday or Sunday. Hours could be shared by more than 1 person.

£14.00 per hour Weekdays and £16.00 per hour Weekends

Driver required? Essential

Using Own Vehicle for work purposes? Yes, will need own car to transport the client and to get to work, business insurance will be required and a mileage will be paid

We are looking for a Buddy who is caring, patient, and insightful, to help a young lady access community activities such as equine therapy, swimming, bowling, going to the arcade, eating out and playing crazy golf.

Our client would also like help within the home to help her become a little more independent of her parents.

This will include cooking and planning outings.

Our client would like the assistance both after school during term time and at the weekends and the job could be shared.


  • Our client is 15, she lives with her parents and two much younger siblings. She attends mainstream school but struggles with memory recall, high anxiety levels, visual impairment issues, leg pain and mood changes. She also has controlled epilepsy but might have seizures which could be triggered by tiredness, stress, illness, or a trauma. Full training will be provided before working with the client, but careful observation will be required at all times to ensure her safety both in the home and the community.

We would like the Buddy to work alongside an Occupational Therapist and physiotherapist to help the client achieve her potential by doing activities following their guidance.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to help this young lady begin to enjoy activities on her own with assistance.

It will be a truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and who has an ability to work with patience, tact, discernment, warmth and kind heartedness.


Pay and Benefits:

- £14.00 per hour Weekdays and £16.00 per hour Weekends
  • Ongoing training & support provided 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata
  • Free DBS check.

Experience of working with a child who has cerebral palsy
Confident and comfortable working in Sarah's own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of her and her family
