An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Medicine Division in West Hertfordshire NHS Trust based at Watford General Hospital. We are looking for a Waiting List coordinator to work within the Virtual Hospital.


We are looking for a proactive, forward thinking, highly motivated, enthusiastic individual, who will be compassionate and proactive, working with consultants, nursing, and other colleagues including our community counterparts to co-ordinate the patients' pathway through the Virtual Hospital from onboarding to discharge.

This role is Monday to Sunday on a rota basis, 37.5 hours per week.


The post holder will co-ordinate data and logístical arrangements relating to patients within the virtual hospital, ensuring the patients pathway is protected by providing secure, timely, thorough, and appropriate arrangements in accordance with the VH pathways.


The post will involve working within a multi-disciplinary team; liaison with acute and community colleagues and will allow considerable autonomous working.

These will be most dramatic at Watford General Hospital where up to 90% of buildings will be new.

  • To assist and support the implementation and maintenance of safety, quality, and patient experience.
  • Where required, enrolment of patients into the VH and onward referrals onto clinics when appropriate.
  • Be involved and support the implementation of patient experience and service improvement projects within the specialist areas.
  • Chase test results and escalate to the appropriate personell supported by the agreed escalation pathways
  • Use and manipulate essential Microsoft Office software on PC to produce electronic reports to satisfactory standard where necessary.
  • Work with the Informatics and IT teams to maintain the systems and collection of data.
  • Participate in data collection.
  • Use multiple IT systems for patient administration.
  • Work in partnership with clinical colleagues on any changes in the service model or pathways.
  • To maintain and develop personal skills through participating in ongoing training and awareness of changing hospital procedures
  • To undertake any other relevant duties as requested by the Virtual Hospital team.
