Social Worker required to work within the Children's Advice and Duty (ChAD) Service as a Consultant Social Worker based in Wareham.

37 hours a week, 3 month+ contracts. Competitive rates of £36.53 ph in a small well managed team with high staff retention. Flexible hybrid working arrangement

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an advanced social worker to join the Children's Advice and Duty Service as a Consultant Social Worker.

The Integrated Front Door to Dorset Children's Services encompasses the Children's Advice and Duty Service, the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), Early Help Hub and the Out of Hours Service.

The ChAD service is a telephone and consultation-based service for all safeguarding contacts and referrals, with the overall aim that we work with children, young people and their families, and that they receive the right service, right place, first time.

We work closely with the Early Help Hub and our MASH partners, so good communication and relationship
- building skills are key.


Consultant Social Workers will be the clinical expert and lead professional, offering advice and consultation to partner professionals, signpost to appropriate alternative services available in the localities and take social work and early help referrals to Children's Services.

This is a decision-making role and there is an expectation that the post holder will progress Contacts and Referrals in line with the Continuum of Need and progress the 24 hour decisions on Contacts and Referrals within the expected timeframes, alongside the CHAD Managers.

There will be a requirement to cover all aspects of the Consultant Social Worker's role within the Children's Advice and Duty Service, this will also mean working out of hours and ensuring the Integrated Front Door is able to provide a responsive and needs-led service 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

The team is formed of Consultant social workers, ChAD Early Help advisors and ChAD co-ordinators (business support).

The Consultant Social Workers in the team have a 4-day working week, encompassing 4 shifts (these may be daytime and/or out of hours shifts).

You will be Social Work England registered, ideally a driver with access to own car and able to reside and work in the UK
