What you'll be doing

Playing a key senior role in Process Engineering at Thames Water, as the
Senior Process Engineer, you'll work within either our water or wastewater treatment teams and will be part of an industry-leading Process Engineering operation that can create the intelligent client Thames Water needs to deliver itsAMP7 plan and beyond.

Focusing on the process discipline, you'll provide the expertise needed to:

  • Get the right technical requirements with the Project Definition Briefs
  • Input and continuously improve Technical Asset Standards
  • Provide design signoff to Capital Delivery as the Delivery Stream dictates
  • Provide technical assurance during the delivery, commissioning, and handover of assets
  • Drive the digital advancement of our engineering within the Corporate Digital Strategy
  • Ensure and deliver the engineering regulatory compliance on relevant assets

The key accountabilities of the role include:

  • Develop process design solutions for either water treatment or wastewater and biosolids treatment plants
  • Collaborate with multidiscipline engineering teams to deliver the design solutions to schedule and budget
  • Provide the technical signoff and assurance during technical delivery including handover
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to other staff as appropriate
  • Ensure we are compliant with engineeringbased regulatory requirements in your area
  • Promote the establishment of a 'Centre of Excellence for engineering by engaging in progression, mentoring, and continuous improvement
  • Promote the establishment of a cohesive, sustainable Engineering structure from graduate to industry experts that leads Thames Water's engineering requirements into AMP8 and beyond

We're looking for you to:


  • Be a recognised senior engineer, educated to a degree level in chemical, process engineering, or process science (or equivalent) with extensive knowledge of working in the water industry
  • Have an eye for detail and a proven problemsolving ability
  • Have wideranging knowledge in designing water treatment and/or wastewater treatment plants (including biosolids)
  • Understand the regulatory environment to achieve compliance with our engineering regulatory requirements
  • Have excellent communication and influencing skills, to interact with senior colleagues and stakeholders
  • Strong budget management experience
  • Demonstrate a passion for continuous professional development and take an active approach to driving diversity within engineering at Thames Water
  • Deliver through a passionate and positive approach, taking accountability for your role while working accurately and flexibly within a busy team
