Description
The Personalised Programme for Children and Parents (PPCP) Team and PPC study

Child conduct problems are associated with anxiety and depression, substance misuse and relationship difficulties and adult criminality. These children and families typically have complex difficulties. A significant group of children do not benefit from current interventions.

The PPCP team is an innovative service set up in the context of the PPC study and based at Southwark CAMHS.

The PPC RCT is testing two programmes:

The Parent-Led Education and Support Programme (PLESP) and the Personalised Programmes for Children and Parents Programme (PPCP), which aim to assist families who have not engaged with existing programmes or have not benefitted.

Previous research shows that some parents prefer resources that they can use in their own way.

The PLES Programme will provide parents with resources, including an online parenting programme (Parenting Matters Online:
PMO).

The PLESP practitioner will respond directly to parents concerns and assist them to use the resources effectively, and also deliver the PMO programme.

The PLESP practitioner will provide specialist psychological interventions for children with persistent conduct problems and co-occurring conditions, including specialist assessment, treatment planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.

The postholder will work remotely, on a weekly basis, with parents who have been allocated to this intervention within the study.

This will include supporting parents with effective use of an online parenting programme (Parenting Matters Online), leading parent groups online and providing additional resources and advice to parents.

The focus is on supporting parents to use the materials to resolve the difficulties they experience with their child, in a way that makes sense to them.

Respect for parents is at the heart of the approach, including race, culture, ethnicity, gender orientation and sexuality.

The post holder will contribute to the further development of the PLESP, in conjunction with the programme developers. They will work closely with the research team to provide required information assist in other ways.

SUMMARY:

This job description is an outline of the key tasks and responsibilities of the post, and the post holder may be required to undertake additional duties appropriate to the pay band.

The post may change over time to reflect the developing needs of the Trust and its services, as well as the personal development of the post holder.

The PPCP team is exceptional because it is being created as part of the PPC study.

The PPCP programme and the additional Parent Led Education and Support Programme (PLES) have been developed by the Principal Investigators on the study and other senior colleagues.

These include Professor Stephen Scott, Dr Rob Senior, Professor Jonathan Hill and Dr Moira Doolan, who will provide clinical supervision and leadership.
