The Institute of Export and International Trade (IOE&IT) are looking for a
Business Manager to support their high performing, expanding Sales team in its
Peterboroughoffice.

The Institute is the leading UK membership body for those working in exporting and importing. These are exciting times in international trade and we're seeing sustained growth in the demand for our services (Membership/Training/Qualifications/Consultancy)

The Role


The purpose of Business Manager is to the improve the operational environment for the delivery and coordination of the marketing and sales functions; specifically keeping the legal contracts, systems and delivery processes high performing enhancing the performanceof the sales and marketing functions.


The role is instrumental in taking the lead on establishing and maintaining the systems needed for the marketing and sales functions to perform optimally and ensure sales made are delivered as contracted, either consultancy or training offerings.

The manager will deputise to the Business Development Director.


Key responsibilities

  • Ensuring operational systems are developed and maintained to provide all sales with the highest performing service, this includes contracting with IOE&IT.
  • Taking the agreed strategic commercial strategy and ensuring tactical delivery through the development of an operational plan aiding the coordination of the sales, marketing, and quality improvement functions.
  • Being the key coordinator between the sales and marketing functions ensuring resources are in place to meet service delivery.
  • Leading on all contractual review of client facing contracts, ensuring risk is manage and reported. This includes the establishment and oversight of suitable digital approval systems such as docusign.
  • Working closely with the marketing department, ensuring all terms and conditions and contracting process both within the IOE&IT website and in systems operated with the sales department are accurate and high performing.
  • Managing a dynamic management information system, allowing clarity of performance and achievement of KPIs and facilitating future planning for all departments.
  • Leading on the maintenance of the IOE&IT CRM system Phoenix.
  • Liaising with the academy and HR departments for vacancies, supporting in the interview and screening process.
  • Organising, or reorganising, workflows to improve coordination between all business parties and maximise efficiency and productivity
  • Ensuring all operations complies with company policies
  • Performing regular evaluations to identify areas of improvement across the sales and marketing functions, working closely with the Business Development and Sales Manager, Marketing Manager and Quality Improvement and Service Manager.
  • Preparing reports for leadership.

Person Specification

Requirements:

Essential

  • A minimum of 10 years quality customer service management experience ideally measuring quality and service in a business to business.
  • Proven working experience of high performing contracting activities both in a b2b and b2c environment using technological solutions.
  • A proven track record of quality improvement and monitoring, leading to proven improved customer service and retention.
  • A working knowledge of ISO9001 / BS5750 and continuous improvement development within a quality management environment.
  • Ability to compose and develop documents for internal use which will be held up to the scrutiny of peer review and time.
  • Strong level of spelling and grammar.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of cost management.
  • Understanding of risk management.
Desirable

  • A background knowledge of complaint and resolution management. Incorporating a continuous improvement process.
  • Presentation ability to speak to internal teams and potentially broader groups.
  • Working in a membership, institute or trade body organisation.
  • Contract writing and complex document development.
