A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer with a retail, wholesaler or FMCG background to join a fast moving, global business based near Birmingham International Airport.

This opportunity is to join an established procurement team and be the most Senior Buyer within the team. You will work alongside two Category Managers and a purchasing administrator.

Salary = £45-60,000 per annum
Hours = Mon-Fri 9am-5:30pm (office based)


Duties include:


  • A strong supplier network and ability to develop long term supplier relationships
  • Working to achieve budgeted sales, margin and margin % across categories
  • Monitoring and tracking progress towards budget using sales data provided and running own reporting data.
  • Forming tactical and strategic plans, with the support of Sales team, to drive profitable sales
  • Working with Supply Chain team to achieve on lines above the average, analyse stock holding, proactively plan and work to reduce it where it is deemed necessary.
  • Lead the management of all categories responsible for, build category strategy, identify range gaps, review samples alongside technical manager, build ranges and manage the master assortment (value, quality, price)
  • Present all range proposals and commercials for sign off to Head of Buying, Sales Director
  • Working alongside a dynamic sales team to fulfil and support with customer project briefs.
  • Actively working on sourcing for new suppliers and working closely with our FE sourcing office
  • Have previous buying/purchasing experience from a retail, wholesales or FMCG background
  • Must be a confident negotiator
  • Strong commercial knowledge
  • Capable of meeting tight deadlines
  • Must be a team player
