This role is based in a specialist school for children with mid to low cognitive function, focussed on Autism and children with Low Support Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges.
The school are huge drivers of new Therapies and understand that many graduates will want to build on their foundations when matched with their sincerity, such experience is vital before a MSc or further education.
The elements of Autism in the school and across the satellite school the provision has, the need is high support for Autism, working ion key and personal skills for the students.
This can be a focus on Key/Personal skills, including accounting, budgeting, CV, Cooking skills - many of the students will be able to do a few, some, or all of these, it depends on their cognitive ability.
If you aspire to become a Youth / Criminal Justice Officer Justice Officer, Art, Therapist, Occupational, Music, Speech and Language or a Physiotherapist, to name just a few.
It is vital for us to discuss your objectives, get a good idea of your direction, even if it is not totally set in stone, it doesn't have to be.

The School
- *_ Hours - 8:30-3:45, Monday to Friday, term time only
- Safety of the students, their safeguarding is paramount and the basis of what you will do in school
- Very diverse school, understanding each child's context and homelife situation, life will be very different for each student. It's a case of a patient approach, understanding there is nuance to each child's EHCP
- Using a number of Therapies, holistic processes to make the children's lives
- Can you make their lives just that little bit better on that given day?
- Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students, classes are often 36 students in number
- Being able to form relationships on comfort first, before moving to content and raising attainment, you can't have one before the other
- Working with Autistic children, some of whom will pervasive development disorder
- Attending staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD
- Having the ownership to speak with your colleagues when you see something that concerns you, approach it in the right, professional manner
