The Post
The role provides operational leadership for learning technology and design activity within Learning and Teaching Enhancement, a division of Information Services.
With responsibility for annual planning, the postholder will ensure effective and efficient use of team resources to contribute to the institutional enhancement of learning and teaching.
Working with academics and colleagues in Learning and Teaching Enhancement, the postholder will identify requirements for training and development in the areas of learning technology and design, leading on the provision of relevant training events and resources to meet institutional priorities.
The postholder will provide leadership in the deployment of key learning technologies and maintain oversight of the relationship management with suppliers.
As a senior member of the team, the postholder will oversee a customer-focussed second-line support operation, underpinned by ITIL and Customer Service Excellence standards.
Description of Duties
Design
- Lead the development of a clear and consistent institutional approach to learning design in conjunction with Learning and Teaching Enhancement colleagues and senior academic representatives
- Oversee and coordinate the design and development of highquality blended/hybrid/online provision across all faculties
- Ensure learning design at Stirling is informed by appropriate theory and practice
- Design, evaluate and enhance the student learning experience for a range of
Delivery
- Lead planning for learning technology and design activity within the Learning and Teaching division of Information Services, ensuring delivery meets the needs of the academic community and requirements of the annual academic cycle
- Take lead responsibility for operational oversight of the University's online courses, ensuring highquality content is developed/updated in a timely fashion for delivery
- Work with Learning and Teaching Enhancement colleagues to deliver a coherent and comprehensive training and development package for staff involved in learning and teaching
- Maintain oversight of the relationship management with suppliers of learning
Support
- Liaise with senior academic colleagues and faculties to identify their current and future learning and teaching plans, using this information to plan and deliver appropriate Learning and Teaching Enhancement services
- Identify training and development needs for Learning Technology and Design Specialists and Learning Technology and Design Officer
- Ensure Learning and Teaching Enhancement provides a customerfocussed secondline support service, delivered across a range of digital channels and on a facetoface basis, consistent with ITIL and Customer Service Excellence standards adopted across Information Services
- Provide technical guidance to academic staff, including the development of support documentation, user guidance and knowledgebase articles, covering a variety of digital platforms and tools that are used by the University
Essential Criteria
Qualifications:
- Degree
- One or more of:
- A teaching qualification (for example, a Certificate or Diploma in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education)
- Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy
- Certified Membership of the Association of Learning Technologies (CMALT)
- Masters degree in Education/Technology-Enhanced Learning
- Significant experience of designing and developing blended and fully online provision within a higher education context
- Expertise relating to pedagogical concepts and learning design
- Experience of facilitating learning design workshops
- The ability to work successfully on multiple projects simultaneously and to drive these through to completion, including requirements gathering and task management
- Experience of providing support services using a range of channels
- Excellent understanding of a wide range of technologies to support learning and
- Demonstrable experience of producing support materials and documentation in a range of formats
- A customeroriented approach to service design, delivery and evaluation
- Excellent interpersonal and advocacy skills
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate appropriately and
- Excellent design (including visual design)
