Java / Kafka Lead (Microservices) - Contract - up to £800 Per Day
We are partnered with a scale-up company who building a pioneering suite of software for the financial sector.

They are building a suite of Microservices and have selected Apache Kafka to power streaming messaging services, and as result, they are looking to engage a contractor who can act as a Kafka SME while also assisting in building the services themselves.

As the Kafka Lead, you will define and own the technical roadmap for Kafka streams and services, ensuring that capacity planning, performance planning, etc.

is undertaken in line with the platform's predicted scale.

On offer is a 6-month rolling contract that will pay up to £800 per day inside IR35 and there will be monthly travel involved.

There is a 2-stage interview process, and we are looking ot get someone started in early December.

What you'll bring:

68 years of relevant experience in an Engineering role with demonstrable experience in Apache/Confluent Kafka technologies, and eventdriven microservices, in a highly distributed enterprise environment.
Strong operational knowledge and background in running Kafka clusters at scale
Experience working in the Financial Services sector or a large complex and/or global environment
Expertlevel implementation skills with Java 11 and above using SOLID principles
Handson experience in using Java Spring Boot, Spring for Apache Kafka and Spring Cloud Stream with Kafka and KStreams
Be comfortable in using Spring Reactive programming, Threads and Annotation processors
Experience in developing for and deploying to public cloud products especially to AWS EKS Kubernetes environment.
Understanding of cloud security concepts and technologies
Comfortable in using different Linux environments e.g. Redhat
Confluent Kafka admin and developer certification preferred
