Job summary
The Senior Property Sustainability Advisor is a key role within this high-profile programme of work, providing expertise, advice and leadership to drive forward the sustainability agenda across Government Property.
Reporting directly to the Programme Director, Sustainability & Asset Performance, the postholder will play a key role to drive and coordinate activity across Government to deliver against the new Government Property Sustainability Strategy and transformationto a Smaller, Better, Greener estate (specifically focusing on the 'Greener' element).
The role has a dual focus in supporting and challenging Departments while delivering specific high-level projects bringing efficiency to department delivery.
Cabinet Office operates a hybrid working model and employees are expected to attend the office for part of the week.
As this role is advertised in the Cabinet Office growth locations of York and Glasgow any successful applicant would be expected to attendour York or Glasgow offices for at least part of the week.

The Office of Government Property leads the Government-wide Property Function, setting the strategy and standards and leading on a number of Government and public sector-wide programmes.

The public estate is vast, with a diverse range of assets including offices, hospitals, prisons, courts, warehouses, railways, airways, homes, barracks, ports, job centres, test centres, schools and many more.
Sustainability & Asset Performance (SAP) Team
The SAP team enables delivery of sustainability improvements across the government estate, by setting strategy and standards, improving capability while providing guidance, tools and advice to accelerate and assist progress against sustainability commitments.
This includes:
- Coordinating delivery of the first ever Government Property Sustainability Strategy
- Creating frameworks, governance, standards, best practices and policies to share with and guide the work of departments
- Provision of highlevel support in relation to estate decarbonisation
- Making the case for increased investment to improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of the estate
- Management and communication of a suite of tools and guidance to assist estates teams in decarbonisation, adaptation, and nature recovery
- Enhancing the capability of the property function to deliver against the estate sustainability strategy, and broader, more ambitious Greening Government Commitments
- Assuring performance across Government to enable departments to rapidly progress towards meeting their property sustainability commitments.

Reporting directly to the Programme Director, Sustainability & Asset Performance, the postholder will play a key role to drive and coordinate activity across Government ensuring transformation to a Smaller, Better, Greener estate (specifically focusing onthe 'Greener' element).
The postholder will be responsible for providing leadership for Property Sustainability across the government-wide Property Function as well as sharing learning and best practice across the wider public sector.
The role has a dual focus in supporting andchallenging Departments while delivering specific high level projects bringing efficiency to department delivery.
The postholder will be expected to collaborate across government property (and beyond), convening a range of experts, drawing on their specialist expertise to contribute towards government sustainability goals (including the Greening Government Commitments).This will include convening and collaborating with specialist working groups with experts from across industry, government and academia to share and agree best practice approaches to some of the most complex sustainability challenges for estates professionals.
