Software Engineering Manager - £80,000 - HYBRID


We're looking for a confident Engineering Manager to come in an lead a cross-functional Scrum team a specific software product.

You will be looking after a team of 10 contractors and permanent staff with a view to grow this over time.

Although this role is predominately hands off, you will be working with a wide and growing range of Azure technologies while developing key skills in Agile Delivery methodologies.


Role & Responsibilities

  • Developing long lasting, professional relationships with internal business stakeholders as well as SMEs, enabling smooth processes that support business needs and priorities
  • Liaising with the architecture team and leadership team in order to agree on the overall design of new products and features that align with technical strategy
  • Building strong crossfunctional teams that hold shared views and goals
  • Sprint backlog tasks that support the team, offering hands on technical support where necessary
  • Creating and promoting new architecture, technology and agility standards across the business
  • Holding regular 121s and providing coaching, feedback and refining development

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong experience leading a team of highly skilled software engineers / developers
  • Proficiency and strong understanding of all the different specialisations within your team such as QAs, BA, Dev etc
  • Good experience as a Scrum Master is highly desirable
  • Proven track record in delivering high quality software solutions
  • At least 5 years' experience as a Software Engineer working with a variety of systems and technologies
  • Strong experience implementing and optimising agile engineering techniques i.e. TDD, CI/CD
  • Proven track record of system design and architecture, in particular with Data and Integration workloads
  • Strong people and management skills i.e. coaching, collaboration, communication skills both verbal and written
