The Role
We now have an exciting new role for an outstanding Interpretation Officer.

This will involve research, content writing, image sourcing, graphic design commissioning and overseeing contractors. You will lead on producing animal information signs and up-keeping the maintenance of our installs across the zoo.

As an
Interpretation Officer you will:

  • Develop and deliver new signage, theming, and other interpretation alongside the Interpretation Manager and a range of other colleagues to maximise conservation impact and our learning goals, and to improve the visitor experience
  • Ensure the maintenance and good upkeep of interpretation across the zoo, using records and databases to keep organised, and undertake basic maintenance yourself
  • Lead on the updating of key fixed installations such as screens, where there is the opportunity to convey the latest zoo and conservation news stories
  • Manage allocated resources, ensuring initiatives are well planned and deliver maximum value for money and effort. Develop and maintain good record systems of interpretation work, showing how it has progressed and what is still to complete
  • Support the installation of interpretation and theming. And commission contractors as required to create models, signage, joinery, and other elements and take responsibility for the ongoing monitoring of their work
  • Collate and use KPI and evaluation data to drive a process of continual improvement, contributing to research about the impact of our interpretation work, in relation to reach and conservation impact
