Then we are looking for you to:

  • Contribute to a new green energy biomass plant.
  • Carry out plant walkdowns and assist the team.
  • Carry out fuel handling procedures to a high standard.
  • Always follow health, safety, and environmental rules.

Assist the Shifts in a variety of roles.
In this role, you would be using your flexibility and broad skill set. You work shifts, where you would carry out duties associated with all areas of the Biomass plant.


Examples are:

  • Traffic management, operating heavy plant, operation of overhead cranes, forklift trucks and any other machinery as required, in accordance with site procedures and always ensuring compliance.
  • Carrying out routine tasks and testing of plant equipment, updating the shift log, including plant and process changes, to ensure effective communication and a diligent shift handover in accordance with site procedure.
  • Assisting with all Startup and shutdown activities within the plant ensuring plant downtime is minimised, also carrying out first line maintenance to ensure plant availability is maintained.
  • Assisting with loading and unloading operations and carrying out random inspections of delivered fuel to ensure compliance with the Environmental Permit, recording and reporting any nonconformances to the Shift Team Leader.
  • The role requires a flexible approach to ensure that vital work is achieved timely and accurately and will require response to plant and equipment breakdowns both during normal working hours and outside of normal working hours.
  • Ensuring we follow legislation and have the necessary permits, recording and reporting nonconformities in delivered fuel and ensuring that we do not accept fuel that is outside scope
  • Make sure we follow health and safety regulations

Daily responsibilities:


  • Defect reporting and carry out first line maintenance activities with the fuel handling area.
  • Carry out risk assessments.
  • Visitor induction on site safety and emergency procedures.
  • Housekeeping ensuring site cleanliness.
  • IPPC compliance monitoring.

Education, Competencies and Experience

  • Experience in the operation of mobile plant.
  • You have the numeracy, literacy and computer literacy to accept and log deliveries.
  • Previous experience in the operations of mobile plant/heavy machinery and any lifting, slinging or forklift truck training would be desirable.
  • Any previous power plant experience is also an advantage.
  • Mechanical / Interest in how things work also and advantage
  • You would need a flexible approach where you go about your daily activities with a regard to the success of the whole team.

You would become part of the Margam Biomass Plant, a biomass power plant that uses unique energy and biomass technologies.

You report to the Shift Team Leader. Here, you will join a small team that is vital to keeping the plant running 24/7. We would make sure you build knowledge of the plant and its operations.
