The University of Southampton is one of the three founding members of the Solent Cluster alongside ExxonMobil and the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

The proposed role offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of the decarbonisation research and knowledge exchange agenda.

The specific focus of the role will be to:

identifying research into decarbonisation that is already happening across the University of Southampton with potential for impact and engagement in the local region; drawing on University of Southampton's expertise to help set the agenda for regional decarbonisation policy and development; building relationships with regional stakeholders; identifying gaps and opportunities for further knowledge exchange for the region.


You will have completed or be near to completing a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline including, but not limited to, engineering, physical sciences, policy or social sciences; and with demonstrable skills in synthesising scientific literature, communicating with end users in the public and third sector, and/or delivering knowledge exchange and enterprise activities.

You will be work across sectors alongside academics, industrial partners, public sectors and wider community.

Based at the University of Southampton, you will identify, synthesise and communicate key insights from existing research, and co-generating new research opportunities based on insights from external partners.

You will work closely with the Solent Cluster Project Manager who will be based within the Solent LEP, and as part of complementary teams operating across the cluster.

You will need to think on your feet, help develop creative, innovative, and inspired communications and thrive on being involved in a wide range of activities and disciplines.
