Phlebotomist - 16hours per week


Working as part of the Practice Nursing team, you will be responsible for performing venepuncture as requested to our patients, there may be occasional requirements to carry out other tasks and to support the team as required.


Responsibilities include:
Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognise alternative methods of communication.

Obtain patient consent for blood sample, explain the process, be reassuring and calm to patients who may be nervous of the procedure and answer any questions.

Update accurate patient record in clinical system

Perform venepuncture in accordance with protocols, correctly label and complete paperwork for laboratory. Ensure they are sent to the testing lab within requested time. Maintain a clean organised work station.


Phlebotomist may be requested to:
Offer support in practice audits as directed by the audit lead, participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery.

Participate in shared learning within the practice, if possible attend Protected Learning Sessions within the Practice.

Practice staff may have access to confidential information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, any other healthcare workers.

All information from any source is regarded as strictly confidential and may only be shared with authorised persons in accordance with the practice policies.


Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 16 per week


Salary:
From £10.50 per hour

Experience:


  • Phlebotomy: 1 year (preferred)
