Key role and responsibilities:


  • Ensuring security integrity of the school buildings and grounds
  • Carrying out daytoday duties according to daily schedule
  • Carrying out defined Planned Preventive Maintenance responsibilities, including daily maintenance/testing as appropriate
  • Conducting initial investigation into reactive requests relating to defects, carrying out repairs or reporting to Management
  • Responding to emergency situations
  • Being observant for Health & Safety issues and ensuring they are rectified or reported
  • Assist service providers whilst on site
  • Carrying out minor repairs and decoration
  • Provide access, escort, liaise with and assist service providers on site to undertake remedial work or Planned Prevented Maintenance
  • Be available for lettings of the premises outside of normal hours with agreement of site manager and also available for any overtime that is required through school bookings.
  • Responsible for cleaning/deep cleaning within the school
  • Participate in providing an out of hours emergency call out service in line with management instructions
  • External duties including gutter, gulley and drain cleans, leaf clearance, emptying bins, sweeping hard standing areas and spot cleaning external windows and doors and signage.
  • Room setups including exam tables and chairs, parent/teacher events, assemblies, and any other function or event that the school may have booked

Skills Required:


  • General maintenance skills
  • Flexible and adaptable approach
  • Good communication skills in relation to managing relations with the school, communicating with external service providers, and reporting deficiencies to Management
  • Proactive nature with the ability to work in a team and share knowledge
  • Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training to develop role
