The Role:

  • Sir Harold Hillier Gardens (SHHG) is an esteemed arboretum sprawled across 180 acres, boasting a diverse collection of over 42,000 trees and shrubs. Notably, our collection includes a remarkable array of oaks, camellias, magnolias, and rhododendrons. Founded in 1977 by Sir Harold Hillier, the Gardens were established as a charitable trust, with Hampshire County Council assuming the role of sole trustee. The primary objective of the trust is to perpetuate Sir Harold's legacy by nurturing and enhancing the Gardens for the benefit of the people.

Over the last two decades, visitor numbers and memberships have increased significantly, leading to an expansion of our team to meet the changing needs of our visitors and to further develop our internationally renowned collection.- You will work at the reception and ticket desk in our Visitor Pavilion.

With a desire to work as part of our friendly team, you will have experience in front line customer service and will have the aptitude for conducting sales and providing customer support.- You will enjoy working with the public, will have excellent communication skills, strong IT and numeracy skills and a desire to contribute to a forward looking and environmentally based organisation.

There will be opportunities to develop your skills and learn duty manager responsibilities within the Visitor Services team. The role will include some weekend and bank holiday working, with a view to working a minimum of 2 in 4 weekends
