Description

This 12-month fellowship programme in Neuroanaesthesia is based at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which is the leading academic institution in the region, the main teaching hospital for the University of Cambridge School of Medicine and the Regional Neurosurgical referral centre for the East of England.

The post would suit applicants who have completed a recognised anaesthetic specialist training programme, including someone who already possesses a CCT in Anaesthesia or a senior anaesthetic registrar at UK ST7 level.

The post offers the opportunity to develop and increase anaesthetic experience in all aspects of Neuroanaesthesia prior to taking up a consultant post.

The level of supervision will be tailored to the fellows prior experience with the aim of independent practice with distant supervision, so to work at junior consultant level with senior consultant support.

The Fellow will be expected to cover the Neuroanaesthesia service or the Stroke Thrombectomy service out of hours on a EWTD shift pattern.

The Neuroanaesthesia fellowship programme mirrors the requirements for the Royal College of Anaesthesia Advanced Training in Neuroanaesthesia but it is not a recognised RCOA training post.

The overall goals of the fellowship are to provide advanced clinical training in this subspeciality along with research and educational experience to develop leading neuro-anaesthetists for the future.

A successful applicant will complete modular rotation through neuro anaesthesia, neuro interventional radiology, stroke Thrombectomy and neuro critical care.

There is also an option to gain major trauma experience. The Cambridge Neuroanaesthesia Fellowship is an ICPNT (International Council on Perioperative Neuroscience Training) accredited programme.

Please refer to the Job description and Person specification attached for further details on the main responsibilities and duties for this post.
