The Optical Assistant will be responsible for:

Assisting members to choose an appropriate product to suit the lens prescription
Measure members for pupillary distance using a pupilometer and to observe the line of sight to determine bifocal placement
Checking contact lenses and completed eyeglasses against prescription prior to dispensing to members, fitting and adjusting as appropriate
Ensuring stock and equipment levels are maintained and ensure correct ordering to accommodate
Ensuring the Optical department is kept clean and tidy at all times ensuring the appropriate cleaning tasks are completed according to policy and procedure
Oversee Apprentices as required

The successful part time Optical Assistant will have the following skills/attributes:

Licensed Optician experience preferred
Experience of working within an Optical department
Excellent communication and customer service skills
IT literate
Flexibility with regards to working full time hours (between the hours of Monday-Sunday)
