Lincolnshire Herbs are recruiting for an experienced Team Leader to join the Cut Herbs department. The role will be working a continental shift pattern working 7am-7pm.

  • Providing leadership to the production team at Lincolnshire Herbs Ltd
  • Responsible for the safety, people, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Lead by example and always exhibit the company values.
  • Motivate and drive the production team while delivering customer expectations on quality and timely service.
  • Focussed on ensuring people are treated fairly and managed respectfully. Deliver improvements in all aspects of food manufacturing that will ensure that Lincolnshire Herbs Ltd are the supplier of choice for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

SAFETY

  • Ensure all staff are inducted as per company procedures.
  • Ensure production startup checks are carried out before production commences and production procedure checks and other checks sheets are adhered to.
  • Ensure all staff are trained to all SSOW.
  • Lead by example on safety reporting using the SHE software to drive genuine change in factory culture and behaviours
  • Report all accidents and near misses. Takes the lead in safety investigations prior to submitting formal documents to more senior managers or the H&S Manager
  • Ensure the Health and Safety committee is supported with representation from the team.

PEOPLE

  • Ensure appraisals are completed objectively and add value to both the individual and the business.
  • Manage staff daily and address employee relations issues working where required in collaboration with HR. Conduct disciplinary and absence meetings up to final written warning and manage all other employee requests.
  • Report and monitor absence in line with company procedure, ensuring that all employees allocated to shift are in attendance from the beginning and investigate all nonexplained absences including the completion of returntowork forms upon their return.
  • To attend and lead daily meetings with the Cut room team with appropriate information as and when required ensuring all meetings are effective and value adding.
  • Be an open and approachable leader of the shift supporting the team when required and giving clear direction to all reports
  • Hold performance reviews when appropriate.
  • Ensure staff are trained in line with safety, company, and area requirements.
  • Develop and motivate the team with a clear goal of internal succession planning.
  • Implement the training plan for line leader and machine ops to ensure they are effective in their role.
  • Work closely with HR on people issues and initiatives.
  • Ensure 100% attendance of team training, staff engagement activities & any other requests from HR.
  • Identify people issues and resolve prior to them escalating.
  • Ensure that all people related activities comply with Lincolnshire Herbs policy and that a safe, healthy working environment is maintained.
  • Manage and authorise direct reports holidays, establishing adequate cover to meet the operational needs of the business.

QUALITY

  • Control of quality of production, ensuring product is delivered within the stipulated timescale and that quality is maintained throughout the production process. Drives customer compliance in line with the specifications agreed.
  • Working with the Technical department ensure ALL date coding adheres to the current customer date coding sheet.
  • Liaise with the technical department to make sure all customers quality specifications are met and maintained.
  • Ensures food safety is always upheld.
  • Closes out and ensures sustainable actions are in place for GMP and audit nonconformances.
  • Ensures all nonconformances are closed out prior to the required date.
  • Ensure all quality control documents are completed correctly and that traceability is maintained. Ensure compliance to all procedures within the QMS.
  • Comply to all customer COP and BRC requirements. Drive a culture that we are audit ready.
  • Support the QA Manager in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Attend and contribute at the technical meetings that require attendance.

DELIVERY

  • Drive production lines to fulfil daily customer orders in the most costeffective way, whilst meeting their specifications, efficient packing operation and maintaining H&S requirements on a daytoday basis.
  • Lead the production team in delivering a quality focused and efficient packing operation on a daily basis and conduct line balancing exercises against product flow and run rates.
  • Drive line efficiencies, maximising line speed and daily production through chairing short interval control meetings within the production area, taking a proactive approach to dealing with line issues as they arise to ensure the line speed targets are met.
  • Develop and coach the production teams to improve efficiencies.
  • Take a proactive approach to improve underperforming areas through coaching, training, and redeployment of skills as necessary.
