General Summary

Bonnier Books UK has an exciting opportunity for a
head of brand marketing to join our team, lead the marketing strategy and brand growth for some of our biggest authors including Wilbur Smith, Lynda La Plante, T.M.

Logan, Stacey Halls, Rosie Goodwin and Heather Morris on a 12 months fixed term contract.

In this role, you will be directly responsible for articulating the marketing strategy and overseeing the performance of all marketing campaigns and direct to consumer channels for our leading fiction authors published within the Zaffre Publishing Group.

You will work closely with the publishing teams across all departments to deliver on our sales and business objectives for select authors, inputting on key publishing decisions as well as managing author and agent relationships.

You will devise strategy to promote both front list and backlist titles and will manage budget and resources effectively to drive sales and maximise return on investment.


Key responsibilities:


  • Deliver effective marketing campaigns for our brand authors across OOH, print, inhouse and digital advertising, utilising your brand knowledge to maximise activity.
  • Project manage titles for all ZPG brand authors working with the publishing teams across adult fiction, nonfiction, and children's publishing
  • Work closely with the whole publishing team including sales, editorial, design and publicity pre and post publication, to deliver on sales and revenue targets for our brand authors across all formats and channels.
  • Set KPIs, monitor ROI, and provide ongoing analysis of marketing campaigns to inform our marketing and publishing decisions and drive sales.
  • Own and report on allocation of spend, activity and performance, to maximise returnoninvestment.
  • Lead on yearround backlist strategy to consistently drive sales and revenue through promotions, reprint messaging, metadata, marketing etc. with an eye to reaching new readers and increasing frontlist sales.
  • Act as primary point of contact for select authors, handling stakeholder requests and queries and providing regular updates on marketing, sales and performance and well as future publishing plans including annual brand deep dives
  • Conduct brand author deep dives, using insights and data, and produce regular performance reports to inform our publishing, sales and marketing decisions
  • Oversee annual and biannual presentations for select authors and agents.
  • Manage author communities across social media, newsletters and websites, in tandem with the brand executive.
  • Input into potential author brand acquisitions including sales overview, marketing strategy and deliver author presentations when needed.
  • Run competitor analysis and market understanding to feed into longterm publishing strategy across all departments.
  • Line management of one Brand Marketing Executive

Qualifications and Experience

  • Impeccable communication skills, and an ability to build trust and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at different levels.
  • Deep understanding of the commercial fiction market and hands on experience of delivering bestselling marketing campaigns for fiction titles
  • Proactive approach to innovation and problem solving.
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Evidence of strong managerial skills and ability to develop talent.
  • Solid experience managing budgets and resources effectively to deliver the best possible return on investment and deliver on financial targets.
  • Ability to set clear KPIs and consistently measure marketing performance.
