Description

To supervise, organise and control the maintenance and repair of part of the highway network as instructed by the Principal Engineer.

Supervise and control the introduction of traffic engineering infrastructure and third-party work within or affecting the highway network.

Ensure that the statutory obligations of the Highway Authority are implemented in providing a safe and effective network for highway users.


To act as the first point of contact for the Service in dealing with the public, statutory bodies, Parish Councils etc.

in relation to Highway service requests.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Network Steward to join our Area Highways Team.


Your primary purpose is to ensure that the Highway Network in the Borough is well maintained and accessible for all Highway users.


The role is to act as the first point of contact for the Highways Service in dealing with enquiries from the Public, Statutory Bodies, Parish Council's, Ward members etc.

The contractual work location for this role is the Area Highways Office in Browning Way, Winsford.

However, as this role is flexible, you will be required to work across the Borough within this role as a one team approach to meet the demands and needs of the service.


You will be provided with a Council van to investigate enquiries on the Highway around Borough and updating the customers accordingly.


You will be given the opportunity to act as an Out of Hours Duty Network Steward where you will on a rota and report to a Duty Officer for any emergency calls.

This entails being called by the Duty Office during the night and at weekends and attending any Highway incidents throughout the Borough.

Overtime and Standby allowance is provided for this.
