THIS ROLE IS A JOINT ROLE WORKING WITH THE BEREAVEMENT SERVICE AND THE MORTUARY SERVICE.

THE ROLE INVOLVES, ADMIN/CLERICAL DUTIES, LIAISON WITH BEREAVED FAMILIES AND CLINICIANS AND DIRECT WORK IN THE MORTUARY AND HANDLIND DECEASED PATIENTS.

Mortuary


Within the Mortuary, the post holder will carry out all duties related to patient admission, transfer and release under instruction from the Mortuary Manager &/or Anatomical Pathology Technologist (APT).

The post-holder will assist with the preparation of patients for viewing by family or friends and for identification on behalf of His Majesty's Coroner.


The post holder will provide additional help for the Mortuary Manager, APT &/or Pathologist during post-mortem examinations, including processing paperwork for the mortuary, pathologist and His Majesty's Coroner.

Bereavement


Within the Bereavement Office, the post holder will provide administrative support to the service and specifically assisting with completion of cremation forms 4, coordinating hospital funerals, provide cover for bereavement officer absence and resilience during high-demand periods.

The post holder will communicate in all service-related matters with the bereaved by telephone, virtually or in person.


This post will enable the Trust to delivery exceptional standards of care across elements and will enable essential implementation of learning from the pandemic.
