Are you a Management Accountant looking for a new challenge?


We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Management Accountant to join our finance team in our head office based in Marlow.


You will assist our e-commerce marketing finance team in all aspects of day to day and month-end accounting, with a key deliverable being the timely posting of invoices, journals, and accruals in order for us to accurately report key results to both ourbusiness area directors and Whistl Group management.


You will provide a key supporting role in ensuring the business is able to achieve financial targets whilst fulfilling any legal and regulatory requirements, providing support for both our Account Payable and Accounts Receivable teams as required.

We will consider both full-time and part-time hours for this role. Based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire with hybrid working.


What's involved in this Management Accountant role?

  • Calculate and report monthly management accounts, with associated accruals and reconciliations, accurately and within Whistl reporting timelines.
  • Maintain accurate recording of capex register budget v actual.
  • Calculate monthly revenue/cost of sale and overhead accruals.
  • Produce monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ad hoc analysis as directed.
  • Maintain purchasetopay system, creating items, linking vendors, providing effective support to ecommerce marketing team as well as the wider group business.
  • Cover the assistant accountant role as required for the allocation of consolidated supplier invoices/credits to P&L.
  • Ensure working capital processes are maximised for the ecommerce business area.
  • Accounts Receivable attend debtor meetings ensuring cash and overdues are effectively maintained.
  • Assist with budgets and forecasts for the ecommerce business area.
  • Carry out profitability analysis, working with the business to promptly resolve queries.
  • Monitor costs to identify trends and/or anomalies, resolving/escalating appropriately.
  • Assist with yearend analysis for statutory accounts and tax computations.
  • Help close the yearend accounts by performing specific year end accounting tasks as required.
  • Assist with internal and external audits as directed by your line manager.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures taking into account legislative and regulatory responsibilities.
  • Actively identify where systems or procedures may be improved and make realistic/workable improvements or solutions to add value to the business.
  • Involvement in various company projects impacting the area and undertaking other reasonable duties as requested by the financial controller.
  • Organise own work to ensure monthly, ad hoc, and project deadlines are met, and queries resolved promptly. Reprioritise and reorganise work during the month as issues/queries arise, and follow up actions are identified.

What are we looking for?

  • You will be selfmotivated, able to turn work around quickly whilst still maintaining excellent levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Be able to plan and prioritise own workload to meet conflicting, varied, and demanding deadlines
  • Work collaboratively in a small team to deliver a high quality of service to stakeholders.
  • Be able to investigate and analyse data, identifying trends and anomalies to find solutions
  • Have a good attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy in figure work.
  • To be able to communicate complex information effectively when dealing with internal and external stakeholders with the confidence to question and challenge appropriately.
  • IT literacy proficient in the use of MS Office, intermediate MS Excel, and Microsoft Navision Dynamics skills to support effective data management, analysis, and reporting.


Management Accountants with experience in the following areas would suit this role: Accountant, balance sheet, financial, profit and loss, excel, budget, forecast, ACCA, CIMA, AAT, process management, reporting, transactional, Navision, and Jet Reporting.


Essential Skills:


  • Qualified/Part-Qualified CIMA/ACCA, AAT, or qualified by experience in similar role.
  • Typically, we would estimate that it would take at least two years within a similar role within a service environment.
  • Experience in the media or logistics industry an advantage.
