The Role:


Are you passionate about using digital communication to make a real difference? Do you have a creative flair for storytelling and engaging content creation? Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA), an award-winning Scottish charity, is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Digital Communications Officer.

As we mark a decade of life-saving service, this newly created role offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of our digital communications strategy.


SCAA operates across the whole of Scotland and its many islands, flying paramedic and/or doctor-led teams to the scene of serious injury or illness and airlifting patients on to appropriate hospital care.

As part of an ongoing strategy of development SCAA is looking for a motivated, focussed and committed individual to help raise the profile of the charity and funding required to continue to deliver the life-saving service across Scotland.


This role will be based in Perth at Scone Airport (however, SCAA does support a flexible working pattern and hybrid working), where one of SCAA's emergency response helicopters and crew are located.

As well as working alongside the fundraising and communications team you will be working closely with the operational crew. You will be part of a dynamic team passionate about securing the funds needed to continue our critical service.


Purpose of the job:


The Digital Communications Officer will help to raise the profile of SCAA, and the work of those associated with the charity, through high-quality, effective storytelling and engagement with key audiences.


The core focus of this role will be to pro-actively generate engaging content for distribution across SCAA's digital communication platforms and engaging with key stakeholders.


Digital content produced will include, but not be limited to, short form videos, photos, promotional graphics, blogs and news stories.


The post holder will provide SCAA with a crucial link between operational crews, the charity team and key stakeholders including donors, partners, volunteers and supporters.


Key responsibilities:


Content creation

  • Support development of digital content, including but not limited to copywriting, short form/long form video to blogs.
  • Support the development and implementation of the digital content strategy.
  • Work proactively with the team (both crew and charity staff) to propose, film and edit videos with a large focus on shortform content.
  • Take photographs to ensure there is an uptodate photo library to help promote SCAA and its activities and to ensure that there are appropriate images for the website and other purposes.

Website

  • Assist with website content updates as required.
  • Support the website redevelopment project.
  • Research, write and edit news stories to feature on the website.

Internal Communications

  • Liaise with charity staff and crew to develop engaging content.
  • Support the development of internal communications within the charity to provide better links between charity staff and crew.
  • Assist the marketing and communications officer with oversight of social media channels. This currently includes Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Instagram.
  • Identify and develop new social media channels to reach new audiences.
  • Assist with the delivery of paid media campaigns.
  • Create appropriate content for the range of audiences, sensitive to the appropriate voice and making the content engaging.

Community Engagement

  • Help raise awareness, establish online connections and stimulate interest in SCAA.
  • Provide communications and stewardship support to the design and delivery of online challenge events, campaigns and appeals.
  • Liaise with a range of stakeholders to promote understanding both inside and outside of SCAA.

General

  • To contribute to any other aspects of Fundraising & Communications as required.
  • Offer administrative support to the marketing and communications team.
  • To attend relevant internal and external meetings as required.
  • To participate in annual performance appraisals and undertake relevant staff development.
  • Present a professional and positive image of SCAA at all times
  • To be responsible for the health and safety of self and others.
  • To carry out any other appropriate duties requested by the digital marketing and communications manager.

ESSENTIAL:


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to produce material for a range of audiences and purposes.
  • Demonstrable experience of creating excellent content that resonates with audiences and expands digital reach.
  • Passionate about creating userfriendly and accessible digital communications.
  • High level of attention to detail, including when working under pressure.
  • Ability to follow latest trends in social media, ideally with demonstrable proof of having significant impact on one or more platforms.
