Full Job Description is attached. JOB PURPOSE To communicate effectively with patients and their family.

To represent the Rheumatology Department as a professional health service and often be the first point of contact for patients and families to the Rheumatology Department.

To be responsible for the daily administration of the Rheumatology department and its outreach clinics.

2.1 JOB SUMMARY Daily administration for the Rheumatology Department covering all aspects of the Rheumatology service provision.

KEY RESULT AREAS/MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintaining good and effective communication with all staff and the general public.

Taking responsibility for handling complaints and any concerns arising for patients and forwarding them through the management framework of the department as appropriate.

Being able to deal with aggressive or confrontational patients in an effective, polite and understanding manner.

Collecting and taking post from/to the post room.

Requesting, collecting and returning hospital notes from/to the medical records department and ensuring these are available for the appropriate clinics.

Ensuring that hospital transport is booked where necessary. Taking minutes in staff meetings.

Working in an effective, accurate, courteous and speedily manner. Maintaining good working relationships within Medicine and other hospital department administrative staff and external organizations including voluntary organisations etc.

Having a good knowledge of the Rheumatology procedures and range of services provided so that patients questions can be satisfactorily answered.

Clear communication and a friendly and helpful manner at all times Having a can-do, positive attitude to delivery of a caring service provision This is list is not an exhaustive list and can be added to by the Assistant Specialty Manager.
