Head of Marketing, Communication and PR Reporting to the Director of Corporate Affairs Based in: Wilton International, Teesside


Salary:

Position Overview:

Sembcorp is growing rapidly and expanding into many new areas to reach our goal of becoming a leading provider of sustainable solutions as we work to achieve net-zero.

During 2023 Sembcorp will set out a vision for a regeneratedand decarbonised Wilton site that provides global leadership in innovative and sustainable solutions for industrial customers.


This growth and plan for regeneration and decarbonisation means Sembcorp has created a new role to lead our current small team of professionals covering marketing, communications and public relations.

The Head of Marketing Communications and PR will be responsible for the short-, medium
- and long-term planning, development, and implementation of strategies for Sembcorp's marketing communications and public relations as well as internal communications.


The role will involve providing day-to-day leadership of the comms team and be pivotal in supporting broader engagement activities, both internally and externally.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Providing great leadership, being open and energetic and with the ability to motivate, inspire and develop teams to achieve world class performance.
  • Working in partnership with colleagues with tact and tenacity.
  • Working effectively with key senior stakeholders both internally and externally, influencing them and, where appropriate, showing creativity and resilience in strategic business situations.
  • Having broadbased senior management experience which will enable you to work effectively with specialist functions and experts from outside your professional discipline.
  • This is a role for someone with advanced skills in both planning and delivering effective communications.
  • The ability to establish and hold a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy in line with Sembcorp's values, and to roll this out with the buyin of key stakeholders, will be vital in moving Sembcorp's communications forward in a clear and meaningfulway. The post holder will set out a strategic and comprehensive communications plan and deliver this, ensuring that a clear message runs through all Sembcorp, including the Sembcorp website and social media, publications, media and PR.
  • Day to day, the role will deliver key communications activities, in collaboration with the Sembcorp senior leadership team.

The role holder needs to proactively provide specialist advice to senior leaders on all aspects of external and internal communications.


  • Responsible for the daytoday management of the contracts and arrangements with external marketing agencies.

Requirements:


Essential Requirements

  • At least 8 years experience in communications, marketing and PR roles.
  • Degree required (preferably in mass communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or related field).
  • Ability to conceptualise, create and deliver an organisational communications strategy.
  • Solid professional experience required of writing, editing and producing written communications for targeted audiences.
  • Excellent command of the English language with the ability to produce sophisticated written and verbal communications.
  • Excellent social communication skills in addition to the high level of written and verbal communication requirements
  • Understanding of the need for and value of a visual identity and branding.
  • Experience of setting and working with branding guidelines
  • Attention to detail.
  • Energy, flair, adaptability and a willingness to learn.
  • Relationship management skills to facilitate the buyin and progress of the communications strategy across the range of stakeholders involved.
  • Sound organisational and administrative abilities
  • Excellent teamworking and teamleadership, skills, including the ability to build consensus across teams in order to prioritise and manage workload and to deliver to tight deadlines, often unsupervised.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience of working within the energy and or Teesside industrial industry
  • Network of media and industry contacts in the North East of England
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics
  • Experience of working in, or knowledge of, the Middle East.
