Job Introduction

Brighton & Hove City Council Environmental Protection Team seeks a Senior EHO to inspire and lead the busy Environmental Protection Team.

The city hosts many large events such as Brighton Pride and Brighton Marathon and has a vibrant and diverse night-time economy.


The role involves working on all aspects of Environmental Protection, including investigation and enforcement of noise and other nuisances, planning and licensing consultations, assessment of acoustic and contaminated land reports, Construction Environment Management Plans, Air Quality permitting, contaminated land enquiries, and private water supplies.

The Senior EHO will be the go-to expert for providing technical advice and support to other Team members and other departments and stakeholders, including elected members.


This role is for a fully qualified Environmental Health Practitioner with a Degree or MSc in Environmental Health and full registration with the CIEH (EHORB) and ideally with or working towards Chartered status.

Post qualification experience and detailed knowledge of Environmental Protection is essential. Additional qualifications and expertise in acoustics/permitting and/or contaminated land is highly desirable.

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
