ULHT's Respiratory Department have an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Care Practitioner (ACP) / trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP) with an interest in Pleural based at Lincoln County Hospital with trust wide working responsibilities.

We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive practitioner to contribute to this service.

The post holder will have a responsibility to promote clinical excellence in the care of patients presenting with pleural effusions and pleural disease by providing clinical advice and intervention, with support to nursing staff and medical teams.

They will provide expert professional and independent clinical care which enables the coordination of a multi professional seamless service for acute medical patients.


The ACP / tACP will use specialist knowledge and skills to provide healthcare autonomously to patients within their sphere of practice.

The ACP / tACP is accountable for independent clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with undiagnosed and undifferentiated conditions.

The post will include pleural fluid sampling and insertion of chest drains following a period of education, support and supervision.

In addition to this the ACP / tACP is also responsible for appropriately referring patients to relevant specialities for any necessary inpatient or outpatient investigations.

In addition as work load permits the ACP will help with the management of all respiratory conditions in line with other ACPs within respiratory medicine.
