About The Role


By joining the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service as a Fire Safety Advisor, you could be at the forefront of helping us make a difference by contributing to the effective enforcement of fire safety by delivering effective prevention services which reduce the frequency and impact of emergencies, identify, and reduce vulnerability whilst also helping people 'be safe and feel safe'.

We have a permanent opportunity Fire Safety Advisor to join the team.

In this role, you will come into work each day knowing you have played a key part in keeping people safe from the risks that fire poses in the community and the chance of making a real difference to people across the county.


As a Fire Safety Advisor, you will provide both support and advice by visiting premises, ensuring the premises comply with fire safety law, identifying any breaches in fire safety legislation and supporting the WM Inspector (Protection) to bring about compliance or possible preparation for legal prosecution.

There will also be the opportunity to interact with the community to promote safety measures though products, advice and learning events and supporting our local partners.

  • You must have the ability to work flexibly with minimum supervision to meet priorities.
  • Be proactive and willing to support others to achieve excellence by the establishment.
  • Have effective communication skills.
  • Use IT effectively in the collation, analysis, and presentation of information.
