Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Ø To assist people with complex needs to gain meaningful employment experience.

Ø Provide relevant and ongoing job training that promotes quality and safety.


Ø To adhere to the philosophies of and work towards achieving the objectives of the Work Opportunity Service (part of Denbighshire Social Services).

Ø To work towards building an effective and sustainable service.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ø Provide a garden maintenance service for local authority settings and private gardens of the Garden Control customer base.

Ø To build effective relationships with citizens and staff within the service, as a whole.

Ø To do everything possible to maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable work environment.


Ø To learn about our clients' needs and to help others to understand their needs in the most appropriate ways, whilst following all relevant policies and procedures.

Ø To keep up to date with and follow all communication / information systems.

Ø Attend and take part in meetings, as appropriate to your role.


Ø Presentation of reports and constructive discussion within reviews and PCP meetings, which can include parents, carers, social workers, community nurses and client officers etc.

Ø Identify and develop, sometimes within a multi-disciplinary environment, ideas for meeting citizen's needs.

Ø Adhere to and promote relevant safe systems of work.

Ø Provide an effective, polite service to the Garden Control customers.

Ø Maintaining accurate records of work completed and financial transactions made in order to raise accurate and timely invoices.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Ø Provide support to adults with complex needs during the course of their work with Garden Control.

Ø Supporting up to 4 citizens per day as a lone worker.

Ø Monitor the progress and development of citizens in work and contribute to their individual training needs.

Ø Suggest changes or adaptations to their support requirements, accordingly (Skills check list).

Ø Record information, as required, in relation to the citizens, for monitoring and management purposes.


Ø Follow processes which ensure that the rights and safety of Service Users are protected in all relevant contexts (Health & Safety Practices / Risk Assessments, PPE etc).

Ø Adhere to Policies and Procedures that are applicable to Denbighshire County Council and Cynnig.

Ø Contribute to your personal development through attending work specific training courses.


Ø Attend Cynnig / DCC team meetings, contributing ideas and presenting information for the benefit of other team members, Citizens and the service as a whole.

Ø Citizens.

Ø Denbighshire County Council Team Leader (for direction and supervision).

Ø Cynnig management (for contract of employment information).

Ø Colleagues in Community Living and Work Opportunities Service (for liaison and information sharing).

Ø Parents and Carers of citizens (for liaison and information sharing).

Ø Garden Control customers (for liaison, customer service, quotations, after sales etc).

Ø Machine maintenance and suppliers (for regular supplies, servicing and the repair of machines).


Knowledge and Experience:


The Garden Control support Worker should have:
Ø A good general education, with a good standard of literacy and numeracy skills.

Ø A background in the social care sector.

Ø Practical knowledge and experience relating to horticulture and landscaping is essential.


Ø A basic understanding of the needs of adults with complex needs and an awareness of the issues affecting vulnerable adults is essential.

Ø The ability to effectively manage, communicate with and motivate a wide range of individual personalities with complex needs.


Salary:
From £11.25 per hour
