Role Description
This is a shift role working 4 on 4 off.

The purpose of the role is to drive food safety and quality standards as part of the Technical Excellence agenda.

To build a culture of food safety within the area of responsibility and to promote positive behaviours, root causing issues and coaching the team to understand food safety.

To ensure that all team members have the appropriate training to do their required tasks in a safe manner and to drive safety improvements through behaviour-based safety observations.


Additional responsibilities:

  • Dispensations: inspect the product and decide what components (if any) can be given a life extension, by checking the microbial history of the individual component and the supplier's specification.
  • Drive down customer complaints at site. Work together with the Production Stream Group Leaders to drive the number of complaints in the area down to achieve the stream and site KPI for complaints. Work with Production Stream Group Leaders to investigate complaints.
  • Drive positive actions leading to the reduction of Microorganisms detected in the product. React to information produced by technical on the microbial issues within the factory, that affect the products and processes used/produced.
  • Conduct training on CCP's that are critical for food safety on site. Sign off any competent CCP operators and monitor their progress as required. Also complete weekly challenge tests for CCPs and OAL.
  • Advise the Quality Manager and Production Stream Manager and aid the decisionmaking process with regards to Quality and Safety. Collectively with the Production Stream Group Leaders collect information and investigate quality and safety issues.
  • Own the QSHE, nonconformance process within the streams. Initiate investigations and verify close out with the Group Leaders.
  • Support the factory with the on hold process, support team leaders with decision making and coach them to become quality champions on their own areas.
  • Ensure the streams are kept up to date with communications at daily Kaizen, with regards to quality and the safety of the product. This will include completing metrics, quality boards and conducting briefings. This would include attendance at the weekly complaints and Listeria meetings, also attending the HACCP meeting and occasionally attending the technical kaizen meeting and feeding back to the various site teams about the streams progress.
  • Audit and Visit support. Support the streams and technical function during audits and visits, ensuring working standards are adhered to, presenting to auditor and attend close out meeting.
  • Coach the teams with regards to quality standards and food safety. Factory walks with Production Group Leaders weekly to maintain audit ready standards.
  • Continuously improve standards within the streams using the appropriate KPS methodologies. Attend and support wider project teams that have an impact on the streams.
  • Attend daily taste panels and attend customer panels as required, monitor and trend internal panel results and work with the team to problem solve when issues arise.
You will have gained experience within a food manufacturing setting and have HACCP certification.
