Your expertise will ensure that piping systems meet project specifications, codes, and safety standards. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, manual dexterity, and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand piping system requirements.
  • Plan pipe layouts, assembly, and installation based on project specifications, taking into account factors such as dimensions, materials, and routing.
  • Select appropriate materials, such as steel, copper, or plastic, and prepare them for installation by cutting, threading, or bending as necessary.
  • Assemble and install piping systems, including joining pipes and fittings using various techniques such as welding, soldering, brazing, or mechanical connections.
  • Align and position pipes to ensure proper fit and clearance, using tools such as levels, lasers, and measuring devices.
  • Install supports, hangers, and brackets to secure piping systems to walls, ceilings, or structures.
  • Test piping systems for leaks and pressure, making adjustments and repairs as needed to ensure proper functionality.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as welders, plumbers, and electricians, to complete projects on time and according to specifications.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and hours worked for reporting and billing purposes.

Requirements:

  • Vocational or technical training in pipefitting or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a pipefitter in an engineering construction environment.
  • Knowledge of piping systems, materials, and installation techniques, including reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools commonly used in pipefitting, such as pipe cutters, wrenches, and threading machines.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and measurements accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Certification or training in relevant areas, such as pipefitting techniques, welding, or safety, is a plus.

Work Environment:
Engineering Construction Pipefitters work primarily in industrial settings, such as construction sites, manufacturing plants, refineries, or shipyards.

The work environment may include exposure to loud noises, extreme temperatures, and hazardous materials, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols.
