About the role
To provide a secretarial and administrative service to consultants. Be the main point of contact to help and give advice to staff, patients and professionals regarding service enquires.


Duties:


  • Looking after multiple of consultants (derm & ophth).
  • Consultant diary management and support Consultant clinicians with any queries.
  • Arranging meetings
  • General medical secretary duties including management of letters, results and booking procedures.
  • Typing and sending out clinical letters
  • Accurately coordinating medical information to expedite the continuing care of the patient including information on patient conditions, prices, quotes and information for their procedures.
  • Booking in patients for clinics, injection treatments, laser treatments and theatre
  • Liaising with all patients, visitors, Consultants and users of the clinic.
  • Assisting patients in navigating the clinic.
  • Liaise with clinical + administrative staff re: investigations, appointments, inpatient stays.
  • Annual leave and lunch cover for reception and other medical secretaries as required.

  • The ability to manage your own workload efficiently and effectively on a daily basis. Organised and reliable.
  • The ability and confidence to make decisions pertaining to the smooth and efficient running of the clinic and acting independently but where necessary escalating problems as appropriate.
  • To be friendly and approachable to all, especially junior admin staff members who will look to you for guidance on a daily basis.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to think on your feet
  • A 'can do' attitude.
  • Available for the designated consultant ophthalmologists and dermatologists.

Essential Experience

  • Typing
  • Previous secretarial experience minimum 5 years essential.
  • Fluent with use MS Outlook and Excel Spreadsheets
  • Respond to queries in a timely manner.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within the medical industry is highly advantageous and desirable.
  • Previous medical secretary experience desirable.
  • Previous Ophthalmic and / or dermatology experience desirable.

Salary:
£28,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
