Role Overview


Based at ARC West London, Hammersmith, you will be responsible for the day to day running of Motherlabs, our serviced laboratories designed for dynamic early and growth stage life science businesses.

Each member of Motherlabs has its own private lab and office space, with access to a shared facility with autoclave, fume hood, incubator etc.


You will be the face of ARC, activity involved in the growth of ARC West London, growing Motherlabs within Waterfront (existing building) and into our new purpose built lab building alongside, Refinery, which will open in Q1 2025.


With support from our property teams, you will be championing sustainability and innovation amongst our members and helping to promote their activities to aid their growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Engaging and fostering Members and the Motherlabs community
  • Ensuring equipment and the facility is maintained to high standards
  • Providing support for Members and their activities
  • Reviewing and assisting with Members processes and pursuits
  • Assisting Members with lab operations.
  • Reporting the performance and management of of Motherlabs on a monthly basis.
  • Management of visitors and contractors
  • Participating in guided tours and media presentations
  • Managing shared stock levels, including consumables, gas supplies and chemicals
  • Arranging the coordination and collection of general, clinical and chemical waste.
    Person Specification
  • You will be educated to masters degree level or above in biotech/lifesciences/chemistry or related degrees.
  • You will be experienced in managing a lab facility, and will be familiar with and inquisitive of life science processes
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Good leadership skills
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to take the initiative when presented with a challenge
  • First Aid qualified
  • Adept at building relationships / community with Members
  • Experience in training others in appropriate lab procedures
