Purpose of the role -
To deliver an effective Business Partnering service to Investment and Asset Directorate, providing a management accounting service ensuring effective reporting, planning and forecasting.
Lead and be responsible for the integrity of the asset accounting dataand management information relating to major investment and all group assets.
Job Role -
- Provide management information and accounting support, adopting a business partnering approach, for the Asset Directorate particularly in relation to major investment schemes and decarbonisation works.
- Lead on the production of the Statutory Accounts, the financial plans and budgets, management information and regular management accounts and ad hoc queries for all Group companies, with particular focus on major investment and fixed assets.
- Lead on Other Fixed Assets, providing Business Partnering across the group as required.
- Lead on the financial forecasting and completion of statutory returns such as the FVA, SDA and FFR and coordinate the maintenance and reconciliation of the Security Register and Fixed Asset Register
- Keep up to date with changes in the Housing SORP and any other relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, advising on how these impact on the accounting of Thirteen Group for assets and major investment.
- Support the completion of investment appraisal mechanisms and financial due diligence in relation to the organisation's major investment ambitions, including joint ventures and/or partnerships.
- Contribute to the identification and management of risks associated with major investments.
- Contribute to the constant monitoring of major investment expenditure including forecast expenditure and the implications for and estimated impact on cash flow forecast.
- Support in protecting the organisation's financial viability.
- Qualified accountant with a recognised accounting body
- Sound overall knowledge of Accounting Regulation and experience in accounting and componentisation of assets within a complex Housing organisation
- Good relevant experience of leading a team with a holistic approach to service delivery; managing change and managing, coaching and developing people
- Effective communicator, both verbal and written, including negotiation and influencing skills, with an ability to handle difficult and/or sensitive conversations and queries appropriately.
- Ability to analyse, review and report on complex financial matters such as compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Proven skill in the identification of requirements, recording and analysis of data and information, and identification of solutions.
- Knowledge of strategy and policy development
- Proven ability to develop and manage a customer driven service and ensure continuous improvement
- Ability to set out financial forecasts and the financial consequences of option scenarios to support business planning
- Able to prioritise to achieve deadlines, targets and costs.
