Job summary
The SDA have exciting opportunities for experienced engineering management professionals to join our teams at Rolls-Royce, Derby, Derbyshire.

You will integrate with teams of highly skilled professionals, getting up-close and personal with complex submarinesystems to oversee engineering challenges unique to this industry, whilst supporting the Royal Navy and significantly contributing to project/programme success.


As senior members of our teams, you'll have the opportunity to be an authority on data analysis for our production facilities and supply chains.

You will operate at lead engineer level to identify improvements that can be made to production, quality andtime elements of Rolls-Royce projects in line with industry best practice.

You will use your engineering expertise to make evidence-based recommendations to SDA and industry partners and drive subsequent implementation of your proposals.

Due to the nature of this work, working with stakeholders is critical to success.

You will therefore be required to uphold strong and productive relationships with senior SDA stakeholders and be the intelligent customer to UK industry partners within thenuclear enterprise.

About the role
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Engage with senior SDA stakeholders and the wider nuclear enterprise to influence technical decisions
  • Provide expert advice and support to SDA and industry customers in implementing your consultancy recommendations to deliver highvalue benefits
  • Ensure outputs are optimised, continuously improved and competitive with UK Defence industry consultancies and standards
  • Lead expert teams to provide factory and supply chain analysis for decisionmaking
  • Develop and manage analysis tools/spreadsheets, analysis reports and presentations

Person specification

  • Relevant Level 6 (degree or higher) qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of complex engineering systems within a highly regulated environment (e.g., automotive, aerospace, defence, nuclear, oil & gas)
  • Applied knowledge of production science, operational research, business performance analysis.
  • Applied knowledge of data analysis, statistics, datadriven consultancy
It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following desirable criteria:

  • MSc., PhD or EngD in engineering or closely related discipline
  • Professional Chartership in an analytical field such as engineering, operational research or statistics
