Proud to be home to one of the youngest and most diverse cultures across the country, Newham is an exciting and challenging borough that is committed to putting people at the heart of everything we do.

The Borough boasts iconic landmarks such as Green Street, the Olympic Park, Excel centre, Westfield Shopping Centre and the University of East London.

About the Role

As the Communications Lead - Corporate, you will directly report into the Assistant Director External Affairs and deliver media relations, crisis communications, and campaign support to the Council's corporate centre including resources (finance), democratic services and HR.

This will include developing communications activity that contributes to strengthened awareness and understanding of the Council's corporate priorities with external audiences including national, local and regional media; political stakeholders; and social media audiences.

The impact of your activity will contribute to the Council delivering on its ambitious four year corporate plan, Building a Fairer Newham, and support overall service area delivery.

This is a newly created role within the Marketing; Resident Engagement; and Policy Directorate.

The vision for this directorate is to transform awareness, engagement, understanding and positive action amongst key audiences towards the Council, directly supporting service delivery and delivery of the corporate strategic priorities, including the four year corporate plan 'Building a Fairer Newham'.

The post holder will be critical in delivering the Council's ambition for the borough, delivering for the people of Newham and ensuring financial sustainability, specifically value for money against all budget expenditure.
