Description

We are looking for a Macmillan information & support manager who will be responsible for the delivery and ongoing development of our comprehensive support and information services.

This role will oversee the delivery and expansion of high-quality support services to anyone affected by cancer. They will lead with the provision of cancer information provision, innovating projects e.g. living with and beyond cancer.

Our cancer services are delivered by a compassionate team of knowledgeable staff.

The successful applicant will work closely with existing services within secondary, primary and third sector to ensure people effected by cancer receive an enhanced seamless professional service in which people can have confidence.


The successful applicant will be an experienced leader with a strong track record in contract, performance and or people management.

They will have the ability to be analytical, innovative and will have a collaborative and strategic approach to developing the service.


To lead the implementation, further development and evaluation of the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service (MISS) for) South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) across Warwick and Stratford.


To develop and extend the scope and aims of the service, and work with the Macmillan Information and Support Specialists, service users, members of the cancer MDT teams for all tumour sites and the voluntary sector to identify and meet the broader needs of cancer patients in terms of information and support.


To develop and manage the cancer information and support centres based at Warwick Hospital and Stratford Hospital and be responsible for the overall co-ordination and management of the MISS service, staff and volunteers who deliver the service.

To act as the key focal point to support the development of local information strategies.


To have a strategic focus locally and to ensure consistency and collaboration with the West Midlands Clinical Network information strategy for cancer.

To influence the future of information and support within SWFT.


Work closely with the voluntary sector to ensure the equitable provision of services that are complimentary to health and wellbeing.

To support Living With and Beyond Cancer for the Trust.

Duties

Management


To be responsible for the continuous development of the MISS's ensuring an accessible and equitable service within the Hospitals and surrounding community localities.


To be responsible for the day to day management of the MISS based at Warwick and Stratford Hospitals and the volunteers supporting this ensuring that it operates efficiently and effectively.

To manage information and support referrals to the service and referral processes out of the service.

To be responsible for the line management of the Macmillan Information and Support Specialist when working on either site.

Conduct regular team meetings to promote engagement and communication.

To ensure quality standards for information and support provision within the MISS are established and adhered to.

Lead on the MQuISS standards across both sites.

To be responsible for implementing and overseeing information management systems and databases.


Produce quarterly activity reports for all aspects of the service including complementary therapy, patient surveys and annual reports circulating them to the Trust board and Macmillan.

To monitor and assess gaps in local information provision and address these.


In conjunction with the other MISS team members maintain a database of current cancer and supportive information resources to be used within and across the service.


To have overall responsibility for developing a recruitment and training programme for volunteer support for the service and for managing and supporting the team of volunteers based within the SWFT.

To be responsible for the overarching promotional and communications strategy for the MISS.

To be responsible for management of designated funding streams and resources
