  • Can you make a real difference in shaping the future of a beautiful rural county? Herefordshire Council is looking to recruit a new team of talented and ambitious individuals to deliver services to the residents and stakeholders of Herefordshire.

If you have the experience to lead a team of highways professionals then this is the opportunity that you are looking for.

Herefordshire has real ambition.

We have set out an ambitious and exciting agenda to grow and thrive in a sustainable way that protects the character and environment of the county.

With an emphasis on low-carbon growth, we are focusing on walking, cycling and public transport at the core of our future strategies.

An alignment of opportunities make this a truly exciting time to be involved in the planning of Herefordshire's future:

  • An emerging Local Plan that will embrace the "vision and validate" approach and fully integrate active travel into land use planning.
  • The Hereford City Masterplan that will map out the vision for the city and surrounding areas to grow and develop without reliance on the car.
  • A new Local Transport Plan to plan and fund a transformational approach to providing transport in Herefordshire that will also help to decarbonise the transport system.
  • A refresh of our innovative Public Realm Contract, planned in collaboration with our strategic delivery partner, focusing on delivery within a data enabled way.

The role covers, and contributes to, all the elements that will influence the way people and businesses move in and around the county, namely transportation planning, public transport, parking and maintenance to name but a few.

The role will report directly to the Service Director for Transport, Highways and Waste as part of the wider Economy and Environment directorate.

We are looking for creative people who share our passion for a cleaner, greener and prosperous future for Herefordshire. If that sounds like you, we'd be delighted to hear from you.

We welcome applicants whatever their personal characteristics or social identity. All requests for flexible working arrangements and reasonable adjustments will be considered.
