Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a self-motivated and professional Groundworker to join our Construction and Restoration Property Business.

This role requires a 'can do' attitude, flexibility, great attention to detail, and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards.

Standard working hours are 7:30am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday, with additional overtime paid when weekend work is required.


Responsibilities:

As a groundworker, you will perform various physical tasks to assist in the construction process.

You will work under the supervision of skilled workers and are responsible for providing support in different areas of construction sites.

Here are some of the tasks the you will typically perform:


  • Site preparation: Clearing construction sites of debris, vegetation, and other obstacles before work begins. This may involve using hand tools, such as shovels or rakes, to clean the area.
  • Material handling: Loading, unloading, and moving construction materials, tools, and equipment around the site. This may include lifting heavy objects, operating machinery like forklifts or cranes, and using wheelbarrows or dollies.
  • Demolition: Assisting in the demolition of existing structures or portions of structures using hand tools or machinery. This may involve removing walls, floors, or other building components.
  • Excavation support: Assisting in excavation work by digging trenches, holes, or ditches using hand tools. You may also help with the installation of shoring or bracing to support excavated areas.
  • Concrete work: Assisting in concreterelated tasks, such as mixing and pouring concrete, levelling surfaces, and finishing concrete using tools like trowels or screeds.
  • Formwork installation: Assisting in the construction and installation of temporary or permanent formwork, which is used to hold concrete in place until it sets. This may involve assembling and dismantling formwork panels or supporting structures.
  • General construction tasks: Performing various tasks related to construction, such as carrying and setting up scaffolding, installing temporary barriers or fencing, and assisting in the assembly of prefabricated components.
  • Cleaning and maintenance: Keeping the construction site clean and organised by removing debris, sweeping or vacuuming, and ensuring that tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
  • Assisting tradespeople: Providing support to skilled tradespeople, such as carpenters, electricians, plumbers, or masons, by fetching tools, materials, or equipment, holding materials in place, or performing other tasks as instructed.
  • Safety compliance: Adhering to safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety boots, gloves, or protective eyewear. Reporting any safety hazards or incidents to supervisors.
  • Site security: Monitoring access points, controlling traffic flow, and ensuring that unauthorised personnel do not enter restricted areas. This may include operating gates or barriers and enforcing site security measures.
  • Team collaboration: Working as part of a team and following instructions from supervisors or more experienced workers. Communicating effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth coordination and completion of tasks.
  • Coordinate and address propertyrelated maintenance tasks for the Group's Property Portfolio in accordance with the job ticketing system provided by the Property Management Company. Responsibilities encompass a wide range of activities, including but not limited to resolving electrical and gas/boiler issues, undertaking painting, carpentry, carpeting, plumbing, and tiling tasks. Additionally, addressing damp issues, handling leaks, managing roof maintenance, and ensuring garden upkeep are integral aspects of the role.
  • Complete the company's online and other related forms as per requirements.
  • Carry out property inspections and maintenance checks on a weekly and monthly basis according to company standards, reporting and fixing health and safety hazards.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and supervisions with the manager / HR Business Partner.
  • Undertake training related to the job role as per company HR Team guidelines.

Qualifications:


  • Full UK driving licence (a must) and your own transport (ideally).
  • Relevant trade qualifications for the role. This could include a City & Guilds certification, an NVQ, or similar credentials.
  • Extensive experience in a similar Groundworker role, together with experience in a Property Maintenance role.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Selfmotivated with a 'can do' attitude and the ability to 'hit the ground running'.
  • Able to work both as part of a team and independently.
  • Professional, positive, ambitious, and flexible approach.
  • Willingness to take full ownership of the role.
