About us

Changing Lives is a nationwide charity helping people facing the most challenging of circumstances to make positive change - for good.

We believe that everyone deserves a safe home, a rewarding job and a life free from addiction or abuse. We know that given the right support, anyone can change their life for the better.

Our services across the country help thousands of people each year who are experiencing a wide range of complicated challenges, including homelessness, drug and alcohol addiction, unemployment, involvement with the criminal justice system, sexual exploitation and domestic abuse.

By focusing on their strengths, potential and opportunities, we support the people we work with to overcome their problems and live safe, successful, independent lives.

Our charity is powered by over 600 passionate colleagues who bring a diverse and inclusive environment for our colleagues to grow.

We are proud to say that many have actual lived experience of the challenges faced by those we support. We are looking for committed and compassionate professionals to join our team, who share our enthusiasm for changing lives.

About the Service - Women and Children's Services

We understand that women and girls have experiences which are different to men and can experience vulnerabilities that are specific to their gender.

Childhood abuse and domestic abuse are common features in the lives of the women we support which impact on their health and wellbeing.

Underpinning all our services is an in-depth understanding of trauma and a focus on recovery, resilience and community integration.

About the Job

Working across Merseyside

  • Changing Lives has longstanding experience of supporting people who are victimised for exploitation, which began 15 years ago with our dedicated services for women with existing vulnerabilities who are being systematically targeted for sexual exploitation.
  • Over the years, our services have evolved to meet the needs of the people we support, who may be affected by various forms of exploitation, including labour exploitation and criminal exploitation.
  • We specialise in supporting people with preexisting vulnerabilities, including experiences of poverty, social exclusion, homelessness, and trauma. We know that these vulnerabilities place people at increased risk of harm, including various types of exploitation.
  • We take a personcentred approach and strengthsbased approach, focusing on how we support people with their own unique needs. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to access support, advocating for a 'one front door' model supported by specialist support where it is needed.
  • Sometimes, this support comes from within our own specialist teams who work with people with preexisting vulnerabilities and who are experiencing sexual exploitation, labour exploitation and/or criminal exploitation. In other circumstances, we work in partnership with others as well as other agencies such as adult safeguarding, the police, health services, housing and probation.
  • We believe that this approach one front door, with joined up working from across specialist services enables us to provide a holistic offer of support to people facing exploitation while still retaining our areas of specialism that have proven successful over time.
This role is agile working which will include being office based and providing outreach support within the community.

**This role will include working some unsociable hours
