About Us:

Help make home ownership a reality for residents across our borough.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we are focused on putting our residents and local businesses at the heart of every decision.

From the policy decisions that we're making through to the services that we're delivering, it's vital that we put the needs of our community first.

We want to give everyone a great quality of life, with access to a comfortable home, sustainable and desirable employment options, and the chance to live and work in a healthy and safe environment.

And our Neighbourhood Services play a vital part in achieving these goals.

The main purpose of the role is to be the first part of contact for residents and leaseholders who wish to purchase their home, extend their lease, make alteration in their homes or buy unused spaces or selling the freehold of the building.

The Role:

Joining our new and fast-growing team, within the Home Ownership department, you will be the point of contact for managing the Right to Buy (RTB) scheme, leasehold alterations, lease extensions, enfranchisements, ad hoc sales, party wall matters and other requests/changes requiring landlord's permission and payment of a premium.

Responsibility

  • Responsible for advising leaseholders on voluntary and the statutory lease extension and to manage the process.
  • To manage the process where owners of flats in a building, and sometimes part of a building, join together to buy the freehold of that building.
  • To manage all ad hoc requests to buy additional space.
  • To ensure statutory regulations and the Council's decisionmaking process and contract regulations as set out in the Constitution are applied and adhered to.
  • To be the main lead on the contract between the Council's and its appointed valuation consultant.
Please refer to the
Job Description for more information.

About You:

As for other skills, you should be well-organised and have a deep knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Housing Acts, Landlord and Tenant Acts, Section 42 of the Leasehold Reform Housing and Urban Development Act 1993, and the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act.
