  • This is a remote based role that will involve occasional travel to UK based business offices or out of hours flexible working from time to time as per business needs._

Purpose of the Role


This exciting remote based Head of Infrastructure Engineering opportunity has arisen to join our Technology team to support the demands of the wider business, whilst maintaining all best practise standards and processes and assist in providing a robust platformfor the future growth of the business.


This role will be to lead the daily operations of the 3rd line and Infrastructure Engineering team, ensuring that the team maintains the right skills, that all demand is allocated and managed to time and quality by the engineering function.

This role willalso lead the development of the team in to Terraform and DevOps. Production of accurate reporting is also required on IT infrastructure.


What you will do
This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities.

Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following and more:


  • Scoping, planning, documenting, and implementing of technologies as required to the highest standards.
  • Deliver customer and stakeholder management to all those with an interest in any works undertaken.
  • Research solutions through internal and external knowledge base, as needed.
  • Build a highly skilled team with strong capabilities and balanced knowledge between legacy systems and modern practices (MS Azure, DevOps, Infrastructure as a code).
  • Liaise with business, vendors and other IT personnel for the progression of change works.
  • Escalate issues with accurate documentation when required.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports on progress of all demand, as well and infrastructure performance.
  • Ensure the team is creating knowledge articles for project solutions to be used for future support.
  • Provide suggestions for continual improvement.
  • Servicerelated focus with the ability to place yourself in the position of the customer to understand their concerns and issues.

Who we are looking for


This is an opportunity for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with managerial experience who is willing to work as part of a team and manage stakeholders at all levels.


We are looking for someone has:

  • Management experience of a team of IT engineers/ 3rd line demonstrating having developed and grown teams in terms of both skill and size.
  • Maintaining operational as well as project focus. Demonstrating an ability to balance these whilst maintaining delivery and standards
  • Understanding of security by design.
  • Experience of modern infrastructure practices (DevOps, Infrastructure as a Code)
  • Experience of integration.
  • Demonstrate experience in providing accurate and timely reporting.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of cloud technologies with a specific focus on Azure
  • Demonstratable experience in using 3rd party migration tools
  • General device management using SCCM/inTune and administration knowledge and experience
  • General network and infrastructure monitoring knowledge
  • General Networking knowledge and experience
  • General storage platform and data migration experience

You will also need knowledge and experience of:

  • Premise and Azure Active Directory Domain Services
  • SCCM/inTune
  • Office 365 and Exchange Online administration
  • Device management using SCCM/inTune
  • SQL
  • Firewall and VPN
  • IT security
  • DFS
  • SharePoint


  • Infrastructure as Code

  • Terraform/Ansible


This is an opportunity for a self-disciplined individual with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, who can guide others and lead by example.

You will need to have excellent attention to detail, critical thinking and problem solving skills with experiencedelivering projects from start to finish.
