Assistant Buyer - Bracknell, United Kingdom - PiLON
Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, reliable and experienced Assistant Buyer with previous experience in the construction industry, great communication, common sense and IT skills.
You will play a vital role, as you will ensure the profitability of business contracts, by purchasing the most cost-effective and appropriate materials for each job.
Main Objectives of the role:
- Recognise the priorities for procurement and supply of different customer groups
- Make sure the requested goods are being ordered
- Create materials requisitions from scratch if required, based on the project specification
- Preparing and issuing purchase orders for multiple projects.
- Identifying new potential suppliers.
- Identify and negotiate savings.
- Agreeing on delivery times.
- Dealing effectively with challenges with suppliers and the flow of materials.
- Ensuring compliance with the safety, health, and environmental requirements of materials.
Must-haves and skills required:
- Committed and highly motivated.
- Relevant buying experience
- Good working knowledge of procurement for the social housing sector or construction industry
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, Word, Excel, Outlook etc
- Experience in managing and negotiating with multiple suppliers
- Experience in sourcing building materials
- A related construction qualification is desirable
- GCSE level as a minimum
- Driving licence and owning a personal car
- Customerfocused mindset
- Timekeeping and reliability
