Octavius was successfully appointed to deliver the renewals and enhancements work for Network Rail Wales and Western in the CP7 Stations and Buildings Framework.

Through collective expertise alongside other trusted suppliers Octavius Rail Team will play a part delivering the £2bn programme of works over the next eight years.


Curious to learn more? The Stations and Buildings Framework encompasses renewal works such as canopies, buildings, depots, platform structures, car parks, and subways.

Additionally, it includes an enhancements portfolio which currently consists of five new railway stations and the reopening of one station.

This framework represents a transformative approach, fostering collaborative, long-term partnerships between the Wales and Western region to expedite project delivery, enhance efficiency, and achieve optimal value for money.


We have an opening for an Information Controller and Information Manager to work on a hybrid basis from home and our office in Swindon.

Job Purpose

  • Lead the CP7 Wales and Western (W&W) Framework team in the management and control of all projectrelated documents, drawings, and reports, ensuring effective collaboration between Network Rail, Octavius, and its supply chain.
  • Oversee the efficient and secure storage and issue of documents for the framework and associated projects, guaranteeing that all stakeholders have access to current and accurate information.
  • Manage and improve information management systems, processes, procedures, and supporting systems specific to the W&W Framework.
  • Utilise your expert knowledge and experience in Bentley ProjectWise and Microsoft SharePoint to facilitate efficient and accurate information flow across critical rail infrastructure projects.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact between project teams, ensuring documentation compliance with industry standards and contributing to project success.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external project teams, including maintaining registers and conducting quality audits on document flows.
  • Engage in daily activities including problemsolving with framework staff, liaising with external clients, attending client meetings, and providing training, while also ensuring compliance with quality standards (BIM ISO

Experience and knowledge:


  • Comprehensive knowledge of information management and document control processes is essential.
  • Proficient in the use of Bentley ProjectWise software (essential).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint is key
  • Sound knowledge of Bentley Synchro to support our delivery teams and digital construction management
  • Experience in Microsoft products such as Power BI, Power Automate and PowerApps could be useful.
  • Proficient in Mircosoft products like Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Advanced Excel experience would be useful (Macros, conditional formatting, formulas)
  • Good general knowledge of the railway industry, rail infrastructure and design development of Rail projects would be useful
  • Knowledge of Network Rail as a client would be helpful.
  • A background in largescale infrastructure projects (desirable)
  • Ability to influence and advise on information management best practices.

Qualifications:


  • No formal qualifications necessary, although BIM Qualifications are preferred.
  • Possible Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent qualification/relevant experience).
