We are looking for an exceptional, dynamic & innovative Occupational Health Technician to contribute to an effective Occupational Health service to meet the needs of our Client to have a healthy, safe and productive approach to work, within the bio-psycho-socialphilosophy of the service.

The role is to provide an efficient and effective occupational health screening and administration service to the internal and external customers dealing with enquiries face to face and by telephone ensuring that medical confidentiality is maintained atall times, meeting or exceeding service protocols within agreed deadlines


The Occupational Health Technician key duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Undertake general health screening including audiometry, spirometry, vision screening and general baseline measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, urinalysis and drug screening tests.
  • Monitor and maintain the recall process around Mandatory Psychological Screening for roles within the force that are identified as high risk. Ensuring screening questionnaires are issued and clients are notified of any subsequent appointments and reports.
  • Coordinate the Hepatitis B programme for both current staff, arranging the OH Advisors attendances at the Client's training centre to administer the vaccine, ensuring that the appropriate health questionnaires are completed. Recalling those due any vaccinationor blood tests in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all required client information is recorded into the Corporate Health computer system in an accurate and timely manner
  • Maintain the Corporate Health diary for the OH Physicians, OH Advisors, Registered Mental Health Nurses, OH Technicians. Organising appropriate appointments and meetings depending on clinical and welfare needs.
  • Act as systems administrator for the Occupational Health Computerised IT System, providing necessary statistical information on performance

To work as an Occupational Health Technician in this unique role you will need:

  • Good standard of education with GCSEs (Grade 9-1/A-C) or Key Skills level 2 or equivalent in English & Maths
  • Recent and relevant office administration experience, ideally in a medical environment.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications at intermediate level. Willingness to learn new systems
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to enable interaction with staff, clients, senior managers and members of the public. Ability to deal with sensitive and personal information.
  • Proven ability to maintain information in a confidential manner as well as demonstrating discretion, empathy and sensitivity and adhering to the Data Protection Act to ensure that medical confidentiality is maintained at any time and any breaches are reportedimmediately to the line manager.
  • There will be a requirement to occasionally work outside of normal office hours. These will be specifically on Saturdays and individuals will be consulted when they are required to undertake this work.
