An exciting horticulture apprenticeship opportunity to carry out as directed by the Grounds Maintenance Services Manager, tasks of routine grounds works, horticulture, maintenance and security on all sites and premises under the control of the Town Council.

Duties of the Post:

Maintenance of floral displays and grassed areas including the Cemetery.
Maintenance and checks of play areas.
Maintenance of woodland and lake.
Maintenance of properties owned by the Town Council.
To work with and support other colleagues as appropriate.
To assist with occasional Early/Evening and Weekend activities/Events e.g.
The Christmas Light Event in December
The Town Crier Competition Biannually
Watering floral displays
Regular safety checks.
Developing good working relationships.
All other duties reasonably associated with your role.

Initiative
Some knowledge of horticulture and tools desirable.

Desire Qualifications

GCSE's, or equivalents in maths and English are desired but not essential

Future Prospects

Can lead to full time Grounds Maintenance role

Training

Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Horticulture and Landscape Operative Apprenticeship.
The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
You will also need to achieve Level 3 award in Emergency First Aid at Work and Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides Guidance or Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides before undertaking the End Point Assessment.
